How do I create an account on FileMyBooks?
Click Sign up in the top-right corner, enter your mobile number, and verify it with the OTP we send you. You can complete your profile (business name, PAN, email) on the Account page right after.
We use phone-based authentication so there are no passwords to remember. Each login uses a fresh OTP for security.
I didn't receive my OTP — what should I do?
- Wait 30 seconds and tap "Resend OTP".
- Confirm the country code (+91) and number are correct.
- Check that your phone has signal and SMS is not blocked.
- If your network is slow, OTP can take up to 2 minutes.
- Still stuck? Email hello@filemybooks.com with your number and we'll help directly.
How does onboarding work after I purchase a plan?
- You receive an instant confirmation email and WhatsApp message.
- A dedicated chartered accountant is assigned within 24 working hours.
- You'll receive a kickoff call to collect documents and credentials.
- Your dashboard is activated with milestones, deadlines, and chat.
What documents do I need to keep ready?
- PAN and Aadhaar of all directors / partners / proprietor
- Address proof of business (utility bill / rent agreement / NOC)
- Bank statements and cancelled cheque
- Existing GST / TAN / DIN credentials, if any
- Recent invoices, expense bills, and payroll register (for monthly services)

Which services does FileMyBooks offer?

What's the difference between one-time services and subscriptions?
- One-time: Pay once for a specific deliverable (e.g. Pvt Ltd registration, GST registration, trademark filing).
- Subscription: Monthly or annual recurring plans for ongoing work (bookkeeping, GST returns, payroll, compliance retainer).
Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel a subscription?
Yes. Email hello@filemybooks.com or WhatsApp us with the change you'd like and we'll action it within one working day. Self-serve plan changes from the Account page are coming soon. Cancellations stop future charges immediately; access continues until the end of the paid period.
How long does a typical filing take?
- GST monthly returns — within 5 working days of receiving complete data
- TDS quarterly returns — within 7 working days of quarter end
- Pvt Ltd / LLP registration — 7–14 working days subject to MCA processing
- ITR filing — within 10 working days of receiving documents

Which payment methods are supported?
All major Indian payment methods via Razorpay — UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking, and wallets. For subscriptions, we set up a UPI AutoPay or card mandate so renewals happen automatically.
Are prices inclusive of GST?
Prices on the site are exclusive of 18% GST unless explicitly marked otherwise. The final invoice you receive includes GST and our GSTIN, so you can claim input credit.
Where can I download my invoices?
Open My account → Billing. Every successful payment generates a GST invoice within 24 hours, downloadable as PDF.
What is your refund policy?
- Full refund if work has not started and you cancel within 7 days of payment.
- Pro-rata refund for subscriptions, less the value of services already delivered.
- Government fees (MCA, GST, ROC, etc.) are non-refundable once paid to the authority.
- Refunds are processed to the original payment method within 7–10 working days.
My payment failed but money was debited — what now?
Failed payments are auto-reversed by your bank within 5–7 working days. If you don't see the reversal, share the transaction ID at hello@filemybooks.com and we'll trace it with Razorpay.

Which entity should I register — Pvt Ltd, LLP, or OPC?
- Pvt Ltd: Best for startups planning to raise external funding.
- LLP: Lower compliance, suited to professional firms and bootstrapped businesses.
- OPC: Single-founder businesses that want limited liability without partners.
How long does Pvt Ltd registration take?
Typically 7–14 working days end-to-end — DSC + DIN (1–2 days), name approval (2–3 days), SPICe+ filing and Certificate of Incorporation (4–7 days). MCA processing times vary, so allow some buffer.
When is GST registration mandatory?
- Turnover above ₹40 lakh (goods) or ₹20 lakh (services) annually
- Inter-state supply of goods / services
- E-commerce sellers (any turnover)
- Voluntary registration to claim input tax credit
Do you handle trademark and MSME registration?
Yes — both are available as standalone services. Trademark filing typically takes 1–2 working days; MSME / Udyam registration is usually completed the same day with Aadhaar and PAN.

What are the key GST due dates I should remember?
- GSTR-1: 11th of the following month
- GSTR-3B: 20th of the following month
- GSTR-9 (annual): 31st December of the following financial year
- QRMP scheme: Quarterly returns with monthly tax payment
What are TDS due dates?
- Deposit: 7th of the following month (30th April for March)
- Quarterly returns (24Q / 26Q): 31st July, 31st October, 31st January, 31st May
- Form 16 / 16A: Issued within 15 days of filing the quarterly return
What happens if I miss a filing deadline?
- GST late fee — ₹50/day (₹20/day for nil returns), capped per return
- GST interest — 18% p.a. on tax payable
- TDS late filing fee — ₹200/day under Section 234E
- ROC late filing — ₹100/day per form, no maximum cap
Which ROC filings does a Pvt Ltd company need annually?
- AOC-4: Financial statements — within 30 days of AGM
- MGT-7 / 7A: Annual return — within 60 days of AGM
- DIR-3 KYC: Annually for every director — by 30th September
- DPT-3: Return of deposits — by 30th June

When should I register for PF and ESI?
- PF: Mandatory if you employ 20 or more people; voluntary below that
- ESI: Mandatory if you have 10+ employees earning ≤ ₹21,000/month

How are my documents stored and protected?
All documents are stored on secure Indian servers, encrypted at rest with AES-256 and in transit with TLS 1.3. Access is strictly role-based — only your assigned professional and authorised support staff can view your files, and every access is logged. Read more in our Privacy Policy.
What's the maximum upload size?
Up to 25 MB per file. Supported formats include PDF, JPG, PNG, XLSX, CSV, DOCX, and ZIP. For larger archives, share a cloud link with your professional.
Can I download all my data if I leave?
Yes. Within 30 days of a written request, we provide a complete export of your financial records, filed returns, and uploaded documents in standard formats (PDF / Excel). Statutory records are retained for the period required by law.
Account settings
Profile, contacts, mobile number, and team access.
How do I change my registered mobile number?
Email a request from the email address on file to hello@filemybooks.com with the new number and a copy of your Aadhaar / PAN. We verify and switch within one working day.
Can I add my CA, CFO, or co-founder to my account?
Multi-user team access is on our roadmap. In the meantime, email hello@filemybooks.com with the names and emails of the people who need access and we'll loop them into your communications and shared documents.
How do I close my account?
Cancel any active subscriptions, download your data, then email hello@filemybooks.com with the subject "Close my account". We complete closure within 7 working days, retaining only what's legally required.
Troubleshooting
Common errors and quick fixes.
The dashboard isn't loading or looks broken
- Hard refresh — Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R.
- Clear cookies for filemybooks.com and sign in again.
- Try an incognito window or a different browser.
- If issue persists, send us a screenshot at hello@filemybooks.com.
I can't upload a document
- Check the file is under 25 MB and in a supported format.
- Rename the file to remove special characters (#, %, &).
- Disable browser extensions that block uploads (ad blockers, VPN).
I'm not receiving emails from FileMyBooks
- Check the Spam / Promotions folder.
- Add hello@filemybooks.com to your contacts.
- Whitelist *.filemybooks.com in your corporate email gateway.
My UPI AutoPay mandate keeps failing
- Ensure sufficient balance and that AutoPay is enabled in your UPI app.
- Confirm your daily UPI mandate limit covers the subscription amount.
- Re-create the mandate from Account → Subscriptions → Manage.
