Refund & Cancellation Policy

How refunds, cancellations, plan changes, and disputes are handled across one-time and subscription services on filemybooks.com.

Introduction

This Refund and Cancellation Policy ("Policy") governs all purchases made on filemybooks.com, operated by Indian Startup School Private Limited ("Company", "we", "us", "our").

We have designed our pricing and service delivery to be transparent and founder-friendly. Please read this Policy carefully before purchasing any service. By completing a purchase on our Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Policy.

Types of services

Our Platform offers two categories of services:

2.1 One-Time Services — Services that are purchased and delivered as a single engagement, including but not limited to:

  • Private Limited Company Registration
  • GST Registration
  • PAN and TAN Registration
  • SBI Startup Current Account Opening
  • Auditor Appointment
  • Any other standalone registration or filing service

2.2 Subscription Services — Services delivered on a recurring monthly basis under our Starter, Growth, and Scale plans, including but not limited to:

  • Monthly bookkeeping and accounting
  • GST and TDS filings
  • ROC annual compliances
  • MIS reporting and financial dashboards
  • Dedicated account manager support
  • CFO advisory (Scale plan)

Refund policy — one-time services

3.1 No refunds once work has commenced. All one-time service fees are strictly non-refundable once the service has been initiated. Work is deemed to have commenced upon receipt of your payment, and assignment of a professional to your case, or any action taken by our team including document review, government portal access, name availability check, or filing preparation.

3.2 Before work commences. In the rare circumstance that you request a cancellation before any work has commenced on your order, you may be eligible for a refund at our sole discretion. Such requests must be made within 2 hours of payment by writing to hello@filemybooks.com with your order ID and reason for cancellation.

3.3 Why we have this policy. One-time services involve immediate allocation of professional time, government filing fees, digital signature costs, and third-party charges that are non-recoverable once incurred. The non-refundable policy reflects the real costs associated with initiating these services.

3.4 Government fees are non-refundable. Any government fees, stamp duties, statutory charges, or third-party costs paid on your behalf as part of a one-time service are non-refundable under any circumstances, including in cases where the government authority rejects or delays the application.

Refund policy — subscription services

4.1 No mid-cycle refunds. Subscription fees are charged at the beginning of each billing cycle. No refunds will be issued for the current billing month, whether you use the service fully, partially, or not at all during that period.

4.2 Service remains active until end of billing period. Upon cancellation of a subscription, your access to all services, your dedicated professional, your dashboard, and all associated features will remain fully active until the last day of your current paid billing cycle. You will continue to receive the full scope of services you have paid for.

4.3 No charges after cancellation. Once your cancellation is confirmed, no further charges will be made to your payment method from the next billing cycle onwards. Your subscription will not auto-renew.

4.4 Prorated refunds. We do not offer prorated refunds for unused days within a billing cycle under any circumstances.

Cancellation policy — subscription services

5.1 How to cancel. You may cancel your subscription at any time through either of the following methods:

  • Logging into your account dashboard and selecting "Cancel Subscription" under Account Settings
  • Writing to us at hello@filemybooks.com with your registered email address and a cancellation request

5.2 Cancellation deadline. To avoid being charged for the next billing cycle, your cancellation request must be submitted before your next billing date. You can find your next billing date in your account dashboard under Billing & Payments.

5.3 Cancellations received after the billing date has passed will take effect from the following billing cycle. The charge already processed for the current cycle is non-refundable.

5.4 Confirmation of cancellation. We will send you a written confirmation of your cancellation to your registered email address within 24 hours of receiving your request. Please retain this confirmation for your records. If you do not receive a confirmation within 24 hours, please write to us immediately at hello@filemybooks.com.

5.5 Effect of cancellation on data. Upon cancellation, your account will move to a read-only state at the end of your billing period. You will be able to download your financial reports, invoices, and documents for a period of 30 days after cancellation. After 30 days, your data will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal retention requirements.

Plan upgrades and downgrades

6.1 Upgrades. You may upgrade your plan at any time. When you upgrade mid-cycle, the difference in plan value for the remaining days of the current billing cycle will be charged on a prorated basis and the upgraded plan benefits will be activated immediately.

6.2 Downgrades. Plan downgrades take effect from the next billing cycle. You will continue to receive your current plan's benefits until the end of the paid period. No refund is issued for the difference in plan value when downgrading mid-cycle.

Exceptions and special circumstances

7.1 Service non-delivery. In the exceptional circumstance that we are entirely unable to deliver a service you have paid for due to reasons within our control, we will offer you one of the following at our discretion:

  • A full or partial refund of the amount paid for that specific service
  • A service credit of equivalent value applicable to future purchases
  • Re-delivery of the service at no additional charge

7.2 Duplicate payments. If you have been charged twice for the same order due to a technical error, the duplicate charge will be refunded in full within 5–7 working days upon verification. Please write to hello@filemybooks.com with your order ID and payment details.

7.3 Payment failures. If your payment fails but your account shows a charge, please allow up to 5 working days for the amount to be automatically reversed to your original payment method. If the reversal does not occur within this period, please contact us at hello@filemybooks.com.

7.4 Force majeure. No refunds will be issued for delays or non-delivery caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including government portal downtime, regulatory changes, natural disasters, or other force majeure events. We will communicate such delays proactively and work to deliver the service as soon as practically possible.

Refund processing

8.1 Approved refunds will be processed within 7 to 10 working days of the refund being confirmed by our team.

8.2 Refunds will be credited to the original payment method used at the time of purchase — credit card, debit card, UPI, or net banking. We do not issue refunds via cash, cheque, or alternative payment methods.

8.3 Depending on your bank or payment provider, the refunded amount may take an additional 3 to 5 working days to reflect in your account after we have processed it.

8.4 All refunds are processed in Indian Rupees (INR). The Company is not responsible for any currency conversion losses or bank charges incurred in connection with the refund.

Non-refundable situations — summary

For absolute clarity, refunds will not be issued in the following situations:

  • One-time service fees after work has commenced
  • Government or statutory fees paid on your behalf
  • Current month's subscription fee after the billing date has passed
  • Prorated refunds for unused days within a billing cycle
  • Delays caused by your failure to provide required documents or information on time
  • Delays or rejections by government authorities outside our control
  • Change of mind after service initiation
  • Dissatisfaction with the outcome of a government process (registration rejection, GST notice, etc.) where we have fulfilled our service obligations correctly

Disputes and escalations

10.1 If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service or billing, please write to us at hello@filemybooks.com before initiating a chargeback or payment dispute with your bank.

10.2 We commit to responding to all billing-related complaints within 48 hours and resolving them within 7 working days.

10.3 Initiating a chargeback without first contacting us may result in suspension of your account pending investigation. We take fraudulent chargebacks seriously and reserve the right to pursue recovery through appropriate legal channels.

10.4 Any unresolved disputes shall be governed by the Terms and Conditions of filemybooks.com, including the arbitration and jurisdiction clauses therein.
